On January 13, the Lithuanian Football Federation’s Executive Committee met in Kaunas. The primary agenda item was the appointment and approval of coaches for the Lithuanian national teams.
The men’s national team’s coaching staff will not change – Edgaras Jankauskas and his team will continue in their roles. However, new head coaches have been appointed for other teams.
Former Lithuanian U-21 Men’s National team manager Tomas Ražanauskas will take over as head coach of the Lithuanian Women’s national team, replacing the 42-year-old German specialist Daniel Wimmer, who was the Lithuanian WNT manager for almost three years.
Rokas Garastas will take over the position of head coach for the Lithuanian U21 team. The 36-year-old specialist was previously in charge of FK Kauno Žalgiris from 2019 to 2023.
Former long-time FA Šiauliai manager Mindaugas Čepas has been entrusted with coaching the Lithuanian U19 team, while Karolis Jasaitis will return to coach the girls’ U19 team after a break.
“We have repeatedly stated our full confidence in the men’s national team coach and his staff, so there were no questions regarding this position,” said LFF President Edgaras Stankevičius. “We’ve been in contact with our new national team coaches for quite some time. We had many productive conversations, and it became clear that our views aligned. We are thrilled that these promising coaches agreed to take on this challenge and work with our young football players. Such authoritative figures will enable the players to learn from them continuously.”
Stankevičius emphasized that this lineup of coaches is a significant achievement and expressed no doubts about the decision.
“The new year symbolizes changes in our coaching staff. We want to thank the former national team coaches and wish them success in their future endeavors. Now, we mark a new beginning,” stated the newly appointed LFF technical director, Deividas Šemberas. “We have entrusted our youth teams to coaches known for their experience with young players. We believe they deserve this opportunity and are recognized as some of the most promising coaches in the country. We do not doubt that this assembled coaching staff will meet the expectations placed upon them, and we wish them success in representing our national teams.”
