Lithuanian A Lyga club, FK Kauno Žalgiris, has signed Georgian winger Temur Chogadze. He will be the first Georgian player to play for the Kaunos side in seven years.

Last season, the 26-year-old winger played in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. He started the season with Nasaf Qarshi, where he made 15 appearances across all competitions but did not record any goals or assists. During the summer, he moved to Zhetsyu, Kazakhstan’s top-division team, where he made eight appearances and scored one goal.

Chogadze is a product of the Saburtalo academy, where he signed his first professional contract. After spending a few seasons in the Georgian top league with Dinamo Batumi, Rustavi, and Torpedo Kutaisi, he made his first move abroad in 2020 by signing with the Ukrainian Premier Liga side Olimpik Donetsk. Following a season and a half in Ukraine, he returned to Georgia and signed with FC Telavi.

After a year in Georgia, Chogadze ventured abroad again, joining Shakhter Karagandy in Kazakhstan. Where he experienced his most productive seasons abroad – scoring 10 goals and assisting six in 42 matches across all competitions during his one-and-a-half years with the club.

Now, the Georgian finds himself in Lithuania and, in a statement to Žalgiris.lt, said, “I’m coming to a new team and a new family, and I look forward to joining. I’ve never played in Lithuania so that it will be an interesting experience. I’m prepared for new challenges.”
