Another player has returned to the Panevėžys football club after a break. Following an agreement with the Plovdiv Botev team, the 20-year-old forward Faustas Steponavičius will play for Panevėžys on loan in the upcoming season.
Until mid-2021, the Panevėžys native represented his hometown team, playing two matches in the Lithuanian championship. Later, Faustas Steponavičius moved to the youth team of Genoa and also played for Zagreb’s Jarun.
In 2023, the forward signed with FC RFS and was loaned out to FK Tukums 2000/Telms. That spring, the Panevėžys-born player impressed with his goal-scoring abilities in the Latvian Virslīga, leading to his transfer to Botev. Last year, Botev loaned Steponavičius to Sofia’s Septemvri.
Across both clubs in the Bulgarian championship, the Panevėžys Football Academy graduate played 31 matches. Additionally, in 2023, he represented the Lithuanian national team twice.
“The reasons I returned to Panevėžys are the lack of playing time, the desire to rediscover myself, and to reignite my love for what I do. I was born in this city, so this was the only club I thought about when considering a return. I will do everything I can to help the team achieve the best possible results in the championship and give my all to regain my form as a player,” Steponavičius told fk-panevezys.lt.
