According to Tv3.lt, the 19-year-old forward Romualdas Jansonas will travel to Bergamo, where he will try to convince the coaches of Atalanta Bergamo. The trial will last five days, after which the Serie A club will decide whether to keep the Lithuanian player.

Atalanta has a U-23 team that competes in the Serie C championship, the third tier of Italian football. It is likely that if the Lithuanian player stays in Bergamo, he would initially represent this team. However, according to Italian football regulations, players from the club’s second team can also be registered with the main team.

R. Jansonas shone in the 2024 Youth League qualifiers, where he scored six goals, one of them against Manchester United. In the U-21 national team, the striker scored twice in three games. However, Vladimir Cheburin, the head coach of Žalgiris Vilnius, gave the youngster limited playing time in the A Lyga championship. He appeared in 21 matches but spent an average time of only 20 minutes per game. R.Jansonas finished the Lithuanian league season without scoring a single goal.

Atalanta Bergamo, led by their coach Gian Piero Gasperini, is currently second in the Italian league with 41 points, trailing Napoli by three points but with one game less. In the 36-team Champions League tournament, the Bergamo side is 13th with 11 points. During the 2023-24 season, Atalanta triumphed in the Europa League final, defeating the previously unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen. In the Serie A championship, Romualdas Jansonas could become the second Lithuanian player, alongside Gvidas Gineitis, who represents Torino.
