A Lyga side, FA Šiauliai, has announced that center-half Sigitas Olberkis will leave the club after two seasons. He will continue his career abroad as he has signed a contract with AF Elbasani in the Albanian top division.
The 27-year-old defender joined Šiauliai before the 2023 season after spending four years playing abroad in Malta, Ireland, Estonia, and Sweden.
During his time with FA Šiauliai, Sigitas was a key player. He made 32 league appearances last season and scored two goals. Over his two seasons with the team, he made 72 appearances and scored three goals. He played an important role in helping the club reach the Lithuanian Cup final and secure a historic bronze medal in the A Lyga in 2023.
His new club, AF Elbasani, is a newcomer to the Albanian top flight, playing in it for the first time in its history. They are in fifth place in the league table, six points behind third-place KF Vllaznie.
