RFS Women midfielder, Anastasija Vainere, has signed with the Greek women’s A Division side REA (Rethymniaki Enosi Athliton).

Both clubs announced the transfer on their social media earlier today. Anastasija Vainere (20), who previously played for Metta and has 7 caps for the Latvian national team, will be joining the Greek top division of women’s football after a cup-winning season with RFS Women. The central midfielder played 18 matches, made one assist and scored 4 goals last season, which saw her team finish second in Latvian domestic championship.

The Crete-based REA (Rethymniaki Enosi Athliton) is a young club competing in the Greek women’s top flight. Officially established only two years ago, it traces it’s origins to a much older and distinguished Asteras Rethymnou, from which it broke away recently. Currently 5th in the league of 12 teams, REA are 11 points behind championship leaders AEK.
