Abdoulie Ceesay announced as St. Pauli player

Paide Linnameeskond have announced in a press release, that 20-year old Abdoulie Ceesay has left the club to join St. Pauli in the German Bundesliga.

Sitting at 14th place in the Bundesliga, FC St. Pauli have bought the playing rights from Paide Linnameeskond for the Gambian striker.

Joining the Estonian Men’s 2024 Player of the Year and national team captain Karol Mets, Ceesay developed his game a lot in the half a season spent in Estonia. In the Premium Liiga, Ceesay scored 13 goals in 15 appearances, also finding the back of the net in European fixtures against Bala Town (Wales), Stjarnan (Iceland) and Häcken (Sweden). The young striker’s performances earned him a call up to the Gambian national team, where he scored his first ever national team goal in a win against Tunisia.

With a 113-year history, FC St. Pauli rejoined the Bundesliga after a 13-year absence in the spring of 2024, after finishing first in Bundesliga 2. The team plays their home games at Millerntor-Stadion (capacity almost 30 000) and are city rivals with Hamburg SV.

Abdoulie Ceesay stated in his farewell message, that he is extremely thankful for the opportunity to make such a big next step in his career.

I would also like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the people in my home country the Gambia, who have helped raise me and developed me as a footballer.
