SK Super Nova, the winners of the Nākotnes Līga, who will return to the Virslīga after a one-year absence, has announced the signing of former FS Jelgava midfielder Ralfs Šitjakovs. Additionally, they confirmed that Roberts Čevers will remain with the team for another season.

Ralfs Šitjakovs, a 20-year-old midfielder, has been part of the Jelgava system for several years, having joined at the age of 15 from Rēzekne. He began his professional career under the current Super Nova manager, Ervīns Pērkons, and together, they won the Nākotnes Līga title in 2022.

Over the last two seasons in the Virslīga, Šitjakovs made 52 league appearances, scoring four goals and providing four assists. His best statistical performance came last season, during which he scored three goals and assisted twice in 27 games. Notably, all his goal contributions occurred within the first nine matches of the season. Unfortunately, FS Jelgava finished last in the league and was relegated to the Nākotnes Līga.

Now joining SK Super Nova, Šitjakovs will team up with several players with whom he previously played at Jelgava, including 22-year-old Roberts Čevers. Čevers has signed a contract to remain with Super Nova for one more season after joining the team before the start of the 2024 season. In 2023, he was with FS Jelgava, where he made 14 appearances in the Virslīga, while last season, the right-back, who previously trained and played football in Toronto, Ontario, made 20 appearances for Super Nova under the guidance of Ervīns Pērkons.
