After finishing in third place in A Lyga, FK Kauno Žalgiris announced the re-signing of Ghanaian midfielder Divine Naah for another season. Later in the day, the club confirmed the departure of two more players: Jonathan Tamimi and Quentin Bena.
Divine, 28, returned to Kauno Žalgiris in August 2023 after playing for the club from 2021 to 2022. Under coach Šaulius Širmelis, he played a vital role as a defensive midfielder this season, making 33 league appearances. Divine became the first foreign player in FK Kauno Žalgiris history to reach 100 games played for the club.
The former Jordan international Jonathan Tamimi, 30, joined Kauno Žalgiris this summer and made 13 league appearances as a starter in the latter part of the season.
French center-back Quentin Bena joined the team late in the summer from Romanian top-flight side FC Dinamo 1948. The 26-year-old defender made seven league appearances during his brief time with Kauno Žalgiris and scored one goal on the last matchday against Sūduva.
With Tamimi and Bena’s exits, ten players are confirmed to leave the team next season. A few days ago, we reported that five players—Numan Kurdic, Maxime Spano, Matias Rale, Zan Benedecic, and Seth Sincere—would also depart. Additionally, Jermaine Hylton, Anton Fase, and David Anane Martin are set to leave.
