A Lyga bronze medalist, FK Kauno Žalgiris, updated their squad situation as they announced on their social media page the five foreign players who will not be part of the team for the next season.
The Bosnian center-back Numan Kurdic is one of them. The 25-year-old player joined Kauno Žalgiris in the summer transfer window and only participated in five A Lyga games, assisting for one goal.
French-born Algerian player Maxime Spano also was released. 30-year-old center-back with French Ligue 1 experience (Three games for Toulouse) joined Kauno Žalgiris at the start of the 2023 season. In two seasons, the defender made 54 appearances, scoring one goal.
23-year-old Matias Rale leaves the team too. The Finnish defender joined Žalgiris in January of 2024 after spending all his career in the FC Honka system. Matias played in 24 league games, and he got one assist. Another player who joined Žalgiris in January and now is leaving is Slovenian midfielder Zan Benedicic. AC Milan academy graduate came in with many expectations and he did quite well in his lone season with the Kauno’s side – 29 league games for the former Slovenian league champion with NK Celje as he contributed with two goals and one assist.
The last player on the list is the longest-serving Žalgiris player of these five. 2016 Olympic Bronze medalist with Nigeria Seth Sincere, who joined Kauno’s side in August of 2022 after spending a few years in Turkey, which included Yeni Malatyaspor, with whom he earned some minutes in the Turkish Super League. The Centre-back, in his two-and-a-half seasons with Kauno Žalgiris, made 55 appearances, scoring two goals.
