Union SG offers over €1M for Niang

Recent reports indicate that Union Saint-Gilloise, one of Belgium’s top football clubs, has tabled an offer for Ousseynou Niang, the 22-year-old Senegalese left winger currently making waves at Riga FC in the Latvian Virsliga. According to sources, the Belgian side has proposed a transfer package worth between €1 million and €1.3 million for the dynamic winger.

Niang, born in Ziguinchor, Senegal, on October 12, 2001, has had an impressive rise in European football. After joining FK Auda from Senegal’s Diambars FC in March 2022, he quickly made a name for himself with his flair and attacking prowess. His performance at FK Auda caught the eye of Riga FC, which secured his services in January 2023. Since then, Niang has become a crucial part of Riga FC’s squad, making significant contributions in both domestic and European competitions.

This season, Niang has featured prominently in the Virsliga, with 20 appearances that include five goals and three assists. His standout performances in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers have been particularly notable, where he showcased his pace and technical ability. In matches against Śląsk Wrocław, Niang played a pivotal role, helping Riga FC secure a 1-0 victory at home with his influential display on the left flank.

Union SG has recently expanded its scouting in the Baltic region, having made headlines with their recent acquisition of Promise David from Estonian side Nomme Kalju FC. The transfer, completed on July 2, 2024, was valued at €400,000 with an additional €200,000 potential fee linked to performance-based clauses.

Reports indicate that Ousseynou Niang is enthusiastic about the potential move to Union SG, as evidenced by his recent action of following the club on Instagram. With a transfer package of over €1 million reportedly on the table, the focus now shifts to finalizing and agreeing on the deal between Riga FC and Union SG.
