Gvidas Gineitis started as Torino claimed their first Serie A victory of the season, coming from behind to beat Fiorentina 2-1 away from home thanks to two late goals.

Both sides entered the match still looking for their first points of the campaign, and Fiorentina came close to taking the lead almost immediately. The hosts created two clear chances in the opening minute, but Torino somehow escaped without conceding.

That proved to be the main threat of a quiet first half, but the game changed quickly after the restart.

In the 47th minute, Fiorentina regained possession in midfield and Mateo Pellegrini tried his luck from long range. His effort should have been dealt with, but a mistake from the Torino goalkeeper allowed the ball to slip through his hands and into the net, giving Fiorentina a 1-0 lead.

Gineitis, who once again started in midfield, remained on the pitch until the 70th minute before being substituted. Just three minutes later, Torino found their equaliser through new signing Rolando Mandragora. Facing his former club, where he had spent four seasons, Mandragora marked the occasion with a powerful long-range strike to make it 1-1.

The visitors then completed the turnaround in the 82nd minute. A cross from the right found Che Adams completely unmarked in front of goal, and the Scotland international made no mistake, scoring his second goal of the season to put Torino 2-1 ahead.

Torino held on to secure their first league victory of the campaign, while Gineitis made his third Serie A appearance of the season. The 22-year-old Lithuanian midfielder already has one assist to his name, recorded in the opening match against AC Milan.

Torino will look to build on the result on September 14, when they host in-form AS Roma.
