Czech top-flight club Banik Ostrava have announced that Estonia international Vlasij Sinjavskij will miss the rest of the season after suffering a complete anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture in his knee.
The 29-year-old started all five of his league matches this season, completing the full 90 minutes in three of them. He sustained the injury during Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Sigma Olomouc.
Baník club doctor Martin Mohyla confirmed that Sinjavskij will require surgery. “Unfortunately, the anterior cruciate ligament has torn. Vlasij will need surgery, followed by an eight- to nine-month recovery period,” he said.
As a result, the left-back, who has made 50 appearances for Estonia, will also miss the upcoming Nations League campaign. Estonia have been drawn in Group C alongside Iceland, Luxembourg and Bulgaria.
