Harju Laagri claimed a valuable 2-1 away victory over Nõmme United in the Premium Liiga Matchday 25 game, making it back-to-back wins while extending United’s pointless run to five matches.
With both sides entering the game under pressure, the opening stages at Männiku were cautious, but Harju gradually found the better rhythm and created the more dangerous chances in the first half.
Their first major opportunity came when Kaspar Laur met a cross inside the United penalty area, but his header struck the post. Moments later, Harju should have taken the lead when Karel Eerme delivered a perfect low ball across goal, only for Binate to send his finish over the bar from close range.
The breakthrough finally arrived late in the first half. Kristjan Kriis read a pass from Yosuke Morishige towards Koen Oostenbrink, intercepted it and drove a low finish into the net to put Harju deservedly ahead.
United needed a response after the break and found one through their most experienced attacking figure. Chisala kept a long Morishige pass alive before playing the ball into Zakaria Beglarishvili, who held off his marker inside the box and finished past Jan Vainula to bring the hosts level.
The equaliser briefly gave United momentum, but Harju struck again midway through the second half. Kriis was involved once more, finding Laur inside the penalty area, and the centre-back headed the ball into the path of Karel Eerme. Left completely free from close range, the Harju forward made no mistake by scoring his seventh goal of the season and restored the visitors’ lead.
United pushed hard in the closing stages and forced Harju deeper. Beglarishvili tested the visitors’ defensive organisation, while substitute Palts came closest to rescuing a point when he struck powerfully from a promising position. Vainula reacted well at his near post to preserve Harju’s advantage.
Despite late pressure and three minutes of stoppage time, Harju held firm to secure a second consecutive league victory. For United, however, the defeat continues a worrying run, with five straight matches now ending without points.
Harju with 31 points after 25 matches are sixth in the league table, while United with six points less are eight. Harju will look to continue their winning streak when they host Tartu JK Tammeka next Sunday, while United have Estonian Cup match against Vaprus on Wednesday.
