Maksim Paskotši’s Gent and Mattias Käit’s Thun will both play in the Conference League league phase after contrasting European campaigns on Thursday.
Gent recovered from a difficult position to beat Hibernian 3-2 in Scotland and progress 3-2 on aggregate. After a goalless first leg in Belgium, Gent took the lead shortly before half-time but fell 2-1 behind after the break. Goals in the 84th minute and first-half stoppage time completed the turnaround. Paskotši remained an unused substitute.
Thun had little hope after losing 7-0 away to Lech Poznań in the first leg of their Europa League play-off. The Swiss champions drew 2-2 at home in the return match, losing 9-2 on aggregate and dropping into the Conference League league phase. Käit, who is recovering from a leg injury, has not played for Thun this season.
