Lithuanian international Edgaras Utkus played the full 90 minutes on Wednesday evening as Al Kholood were denied victory late on in a 1-1 draw away to former Liverpool strikers Darwin Nunez new club Al Diriyah, extending their unbeaten start to the Saudi Pro League season.

The 26-year-old centre-back once again was in the starting line-up. Last weekend he produced his best performance since arriving in Saudi Arabia, when he scored once and provided an assist in Al Kholood’s thrilling 3-2 victory over Al Taawoun.

Following a goalless first half, Al Kholood finally broke the deadlock in the 71st minute through Abdulaziz Al Aliwa and looked on course to claim a second consecutive league victory.

However, the hosts struck back seven minutes from time. Al Diriyah side found an equaliser in the 83rd minute when Meshari Al Nemer converted to make it 1-1.

Despite letting victory slip away, Al Kholood remain unbeaten after the opening three rounds of the Saudi Pro League, having recorded one win and two draws.

Utkus and Al Kholood will look to continue that unbeaten run on Saturday when they host Al Ahli, featuring Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard Mendy and England striker Ivan Toney.
