Tartu’s Pink Football charity festival has raised €9,567.40 to support the cancer treatment of mother-of-two Kristina Zuikova.

The fundraising drive was staged at Tamme Stadium on 22nd of August and was organised by Tammeka, with the club thanking supporters across the event and beyond. “A huge thank you to everyone who backed Pink Football at Tamme Stadium – donors, cake bakers and buyers, those who bought the celebrities’ signed shirts, the volunteers and the organising team,” the club wrote on social media and its website.

Tammeka also paid tribute to other clubs, coaches, players and community groups who ran cake sales and collections in different parts of Estonia to boost the total, and to those who covered the initiative. Zuikova is being supported through the Kingitud Elu cancer treatment fund and is battling breast cancer with extensive metastases.

The Pink Football festival was launched by Tammeka’s women’s team in September 2013, originally to raise awareness of breast cancer and help fund treatment. Including this year’s 14th edition, the club says it has now raised close to €47,000 to support the fight against cancer.
