Nõmme United have completed the signing of centre-back Simon Geiger, the club have announced. The 24-year-old arrives with experience from Switzerland’s youth international set-up and, according to United, becomes the first Swiss player to feature in Estonia’s top flight.
Geiger came through the academy at Young Boys in Bern and won 12 caps across Switzerland’s youth teams. He has played 46 matches in the Swiss second tier with Wil.
The move also links Nõmme United with a familiar name from Wil’s past, with the club noting their president Mart Poom played for the Swiss side in 1993-94.
