Harju Laagri have completed the signing of centre-back Andreas Vaher from Flora, adding experience and height to their back line ahead of the run-in.
The 22-year-old, who stands 191cm tall, has largely featured as a substitute this season and made six Premium liiga appearances for Flora. Vaher joined the Tallinn club in summer 2024 from Finnish champions Helsingin HJK and went on to play 22 top-flight matches for Flora, scoring three times.
Harju chief executive Kalmar Liiv said the club believe Vaher can push on further with strong performances. “We are strengthening our defence with a 191cm centre-back who has several seasons of experience at the highest level in Estonia and also abroad,” Liiv said. “He is a player with clear potential to move abroad and he will provide strong competition in central defence. We are looking forward to seeing Andreas on the pitch.”
Vaher said Harju’s “youthful energy” and head coach Lauri Nuuma’s plan for his development were key factors in his decision. “I believe and hope that in this environment I can show my strengths in the best way and help the team achieve the best possible results,” he said.
He added: “I’m really looking forward to meeting my new team-mates – many of them are already my friends – and, of course, the Laagri Arena ultras. I’m a footballer who values a good stadium atmosphere highly and I know Laagri won’t be lacking in that.”
Vaher will wear number 20 at Harju. He has also played abroad in the youth set-ups of Freiburg in Germany and SPAL in Italy, and has one senior Estonia appearance from a 2-1 friendly defeat by Sweden in early 2024.
Harju sit eighth in the Premium liiga. Vaher will not be available for their next match at home to Nõmme Kalju, with league rules preventing a player who switches between Premium liiga clubs from featuring for five days after the move.
