Dariius and Girėnas Stadium hosted the 26th-round TOPLYGA clash between FK Kauno Žalgiris and FC Hegelmann, with the home side securing a convincing 2-0 victory after taking control of the game in the first half.

The opening stages were relatively quiet, with Wesley Gabriel firing one effort wide of the Kauno Žalgiris goal. They were also forced into an early change, as Luka Račič was unable to continue and was replaced by fellow centre-back Rokas Lekiatas.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 32nd minute. Carlos Duke lost possession close to his own penalty area, allowing Motiejus Burba to win the ball and pick out Leo Ribeiro, who made no mistake with his finish.

Just five minutes later, the hosts doubled their advantage. Ribeiro found Burba with a well-timed pass, and the midfielder calmly directed the ball into an empty net to make it 2-0.

Hegelmann looked for a way back into the game after the break, with Vilius Armanavičius coming close to reducing the deficit. However, his attempt was dealt with by Kauno Žalgiris goalkeeper Tomas Švedkauskas.

Midway through the second half, Amine Benchaib had an opportunity to add a third following a Gratas Sirgėdas delivery from a set piece, but Hegelmann goalkeeper Lukas Paukštė produced an excellent save to deny his header.

Anthony Kalik later came close to scoring his first goal in a Kauno Žalgiris shirt, but his effort was blocked by the Hegelmann defence.

The victory sees Kauno Žalgiris climb to the top of the TOPLYGA table with 37 points, while Hegelmann remain seventh with 22 points.
