FK Auda announces the departures of two defenders

FK Auda has confirmed that Iļja Korotkovs and Krišs Kārkliņš will be leaving the club following the conclusion of their contracts. Both players left the “green-black” family on a free-basis, and the club expressed heartfelt gratitude for their dedication and effort.

Ilja Korotkovs – Central defender Ilja Korotkovs, aged 24, has been with FK Auda since their debut in the Virslīga in 2022. Initially joining on loan from Riga FC, Korotkovs returned to FK Auda as a full-time player and became an integral part of the squad. Over the course of nearly three seasons, he made 45 official appearances, competing in the Virslīga, Latvian Cup, and UEFA Conference League qualifiers.

Korotkovs brought energy and enthusiasm both on and off the pitch, embodying the spirit of FK Auda during a transformative period for the club. His departure marks the end of a chapter that saw him grow into a reliable defensive presence.

The club expressed deep gratitude to Korotkovs, stating:

“Thank you for your commitment, enthusiasm, and positivity. We wish you success in your career and hope to see you excel in your next adventure.”

Krišs Kārkliņš – Midfielder Krišs Kārkliņš, aged 28, joined FK Auda in 2023. Despite injuries that disrupted his 2024 season, Kārkliņš consistently demonstrated patience and readiness to support the team whenever needed.

During his tenure, he played 16 matches across the Virslīga and Latvian Cup, amassing 383 minutes in the most recent Virslīga campaign.

The club reflected on Kārkliņš’ contributions with appreciation:

“Thank you, Krišs, for your dedication and unwavering support for the team. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors and hope to cross paths on the football field again.”
