Riga FC has officially announced that 23-year-old defender Kirils Iļjins will not continue with the team following the expiration of his contract. The club expressed its gratitude for his contributions over the past two seasons and wished him all the best for his future endeavors. “Thank you, Kirils, for your work and professional attitude over these two years, and best of luck in the continuation of your career!” the club stated, highlighting his dedication and professionalism during his time at Riga FC.
Iļjins joined Riga FC in 2023 and had 34 appearances in all competitions over two seasons. The left-back also contributed six assists. In the Virslīga, Latvia’s top football league, Iļjins featured in 12 matches in 2023 and 19 matches in 2024. In addition to his contributions to the senior team, Iļjins also played for Riga FC II in the Nākotnes Līga, where he stood out by playing as a midfielder and scoring three goals in 2023.
Before joining Riga FC, Iļjins already had significant experience in Latvian football. He began his professional career with BFC Daugavpils, where he played for several seasons and established himself as one of the most reliable young defenders in the league. Over the course of his career, he has amassed a total of 135 matches in the Latvian Virslīga.
During his time at Riga FC, Iļjins also had the opportunity to lift silverware, helping the club win the Latvian Cup.
