Latvian goalkeeper Roberts Apsīts signs for Inter Milan system

Roberts Apsīts

Latvian goalkeeper Roberts Apsīts has signed for Italian giants Inter Milan after successfully completing a trial with the club. The transfer has been confirmed through the official Serie A transfer registration system, with the 20-year-old set to continue his development with Inter’s Under-23 side, which competes in Italy’s Serie C.

A product of Valmiera Football Academy, Apsīts moved to Italy two years ago and has since spent spells with Serie D clubs Gelbison and Virtus Francavilla. It was during the 2025/26 season that the young goalkeeper enjoyed his breakthrough campaign, making 23 league appearances, keeping 10 clean sheets and conceding just 24 goals.

Earlier this summer, Italian media reported that Apsīts was on trial with Inter’s newly established Under-23 team. Following a successful evaluation period, the goalkeeper has now officially joined the Nerazzurri setup.

Inter’s Under-23 side was formed last year and competes in Serie C, serving as the club’s reserve team and providing a direct pathway to the first team for emerging talents.

Standing just under two metres tall, Apsīts has taken an unconventional route to one of Europe’s biggest clubs, having never represented Latvia at any youth international level. Fellow Latvian, Roberts Kukulis also plays in Inter Milan system.
