Latvian forward Haralds Silagailis has completed a move to Finnish Veikkausliiga club SJK from Virslīga side Ogre United.
The 21-year-old has signed a contract until the end of the 2026 season, with the agreement including an option to extend. While Silagailis joins the Seinäjoki-based club on a free transfer, Ogre United have retained a sell-on clause that will entitle them to a percentage of any future transfer fee.
Silagailis spent the past two seasons with Ogre United but found opportunities difficult to come by in Latvia’s top flight this year, making 17 Virslīga appearances without scoring.
Earlier in his career, however, the striker established himself as a prolific goalscorer in Latvia’s second tier. Across spells with Ogre United, Super Nova and Salaspils, he scored 30 goals in 57 league matches. He has also previously been part of the youth systems at Riga FC, Ventspils and Slovak club Košice.
At international level, Silagailis has represented Latvia at Under-17 and Under-19 level, earning nine youth international caps and scoring twice.
Initially, the Latvian will join the SJK Academy squad as he begins his career in Finland. SJK currently sit 10th in the 12-team Veikkausliiga standings.
SJK Academy head coach Paulo Lopes believes Silagailis possesses the attributes to develop into an important attacking player.
“He is a physically strong player who finishes well with both feet. He moves well, can hold up the ball and is an excellent target man.”
