Estonian youngster Andero Kaares has completed a move from Flora to Villarreal on a four-year deal, signing his first contract abroad after coming through the Tallinn club’s academy system. The transfer was confirmed on 4th of July.

Just 17-year-old, Kaares had been previously a subject of debate in the football magazine “Jalka”, with Flora head coach Konstantin Vassiljev and Estonia U-17 coach Marko Pärnpuu asked to rate aspects of his game on a five-point scale. The piece was written before the move to Villarreal became official.

Both coaches highlighted Kaares’ physical power as an obvious asset. Vassiljev said the striker already carries “quite a lot of strength” for his age and described it as one of his standout qualities. Pärnpuu added that Kaares is forceful for a tall player, which has helped him feature in men’s football at an early stage, while stressing that further strength gains will still be needed to cope consistently at senior level.

Kaares’ reading of the game was seen as less developed. Vassiljev said it would be the hardest area for him to improve, suggesting his attacking mindset and focus on goal may have slowed his progress in that part of his development. Pärnpuu’s view was broadly positive, saying Kaares generally finds team-mates and identifies the spaces to move into to receive the ball, but noted that he can become too ball-focused at times, with a passing option occasionally missed.
