Lithuania international midfielder Modestas Vorobjovas has completed a move to Israeli Premier League side Bnei Sakhnin after spending the last three seasons in Turkey. The 30-year-old has signed a one-year contract with an option to extend it for a further season.
Vorobjovas leaves Turkish club İstanbulspor, where he became an important member of the squad during his three-year stay. Last season, he made 35 appearances in the Turkish second tier as one of the club’s regular starters. In total, the Lithuanian midfielder featured in 97 matches for İstanbulspor, scoring two goals.
The move to Israel will be the third foreign club of Vorobjovas’ career. After leaving Vilnius Žalgiris following the 2020 season, he played in Romania with UTA Arad and Chindia Targoviște before moving to Turkey in 2022. In Lithuania, he has also represented the original FK Šiauliai and FK Riteriai.
Vorobjovas has earned 52 caps for the Lithuanian national team and has been a regular part of the squad for several years.
His new club, Bnei Sakhnin, finished 11th in the 14-team Israeli Premier League last season, successfully retaining their place in the country’s top division.
