FK Grobiņa strengthen squad with experienced midfielder

Tonybet Virslīga side FK Grobiņa have strengthened their squad on the opening day of the Latvian summer transfer window by signing Belgian attacking midfielder Milan Corryn, according to the Latvian Football Federation’s transfer register.

The 27-year-old arrives with an good resume, having spent much of his career playing across several European leagues. Corryn is a product of the renowned Anderlecht academy and most recently represented Belgian lower-league side Schaerbeek. Prior to that, he featured in several top-flight European competitions, including the Dutch Eredivisie.

His career has included spells with Slovak clubs AS Trencin and Spartak Trnava, where he lifted the Slovak Cup, as well as Polish Ekstraklasa side Warta Poznan. The highlight of his club career came in the Netherlands with Almere City, where he spent two seasons and made seven Eredivisie appearances during the 2023/24 campaign, registering one assist.

On the international stage, Corryn was a regular for Belgium’s youth national teams, making a combined 27 appearances across the U17 and U19 levels. He was also part of Belgium’s squad at the 2016 UEFA European Under-17 Championship.

Grobiņa currently sit ninth in the Tonybet Virslīga standings with 16 points. Corryn could make his debut as early as today when the club host FK Auda.
