One of the standout young players in the Tonybet Virslīga this season is set for a move abroad, as Czech First League side FK Teplice have announced the signing of 19-year-old Ukrainian attacking midfielder Artem Garzha from BFC Daugavpils.

Garzha has signed a long-term contract with the Czech club after attracting significant interest with his performances in Latvia during the opening months of the 2026 season.

The Ukrainian arrives in Teplice after an impressive first half of the season in Latvia, where he recorded five goals and three assists in 16 appearances. According to Teplice sporting director Štěpán Vachoušek, the club had been monitoring Garzha for several months before completing the transfer.

“We had Artem on our radar for a longer period. He went through detailed data analysis which confirmed many of the parameters we look for in young players. His finishing ability, work in pressing situations and potential for future development stood out. We believe he is a player with a very high ceiling,” Vachoušek said.

Garzha himself described the move as an important step in his career. “I am very happy to become part of FK Teplice. It is a club with tradition and a clear vision. I want to continue improving, help the team and show the fans what I can do,” the midfielder said after signing his contract.

According to statement from Teplice, Garzha is expected to remain with BFC Daugavpils for two more league matches before officially joining Teplice for the start of preparations ahead of the new Czech First League season.

Garzha becomes the fifth Daugavpils player who has moved to Czechia within the last few seasons as previously Joshua Akpudje (Jablonec), William Mukwelle (Pardubice), Dele Israel (Sigma Olomouc) and Toumani Diakite (Slovan Liberec) moved to Czechia.
