Riteriai have been fined €2,000 and their reserve side removed from the LFF II Lyga A division after failing to fulfil two fixtures, the Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF) has said.
The LFF disciplinary committee ruled the club did not provide acceptable reasons for Riteriai B not turning up for their second-round match against Sirijus, scheduled for 21 February 2026, and their 11th-round game at Šilutė, set for 30 May 2026.
As part of the sanction, Riteriai B have been expelled from the competition and all of the team’s results and match statistics in the LFF II Lyga A this season will be annulled, with the exception of disciplinary records.
The LFF said an appeal can be lodged with its appeals committee within seven days of the decision being served.
LFF president Edgaras Stankevičius said the punishment followed both the competition regulations and the team’s disciplinary breaches, adding he felt for the young players affected.
“Humanly, it is a pity for the young players, who due to the negligence of the club’s official persons have lost the opportunity to continue this championship and gain the necessary experience in men’s football,” Stankevičius said.
He also noted the decision could have implications for the first team’s future, stating the club is currently unable to register new players and pointing to 15 June as a key date, when the LFF executive committee will consider whether the club can continue in the Toplyga if outstanding debts are covered.
