Pärnu JK Vaprus returned to winning ways in the Estonian Premium Liiga, defeating JK Narva Trans 2-0 at home and ending a ten-match winless streak against the Narva side which was dating back to 2023.

Back on natural grass after their midweek Estonian Cup semifinal defeat against Paide Linnameeskond, Vaprus looked the sharper side throughout most of the evening, while Trans struggled to create danger in attack.

The opening stages offered very little excitement, with both teams needing time to adjust to the grass surface. Vaprus created the first real chance in the 10th minute when Joosep Põder found space inside the penalty area, but his header drifted wide.

Narva slowly grew into the match, mostly through attacks down the left side, though the visitors failed to turn possession into meaningful chances. The breakthrough finally arrived in the 35th minute after a chaotic situation inside the Trans penalty area ended with the referee pointing to the spot for handball.

Henri Välja stepped up and calmly converted the penalty straight down the middle, while goalkeeper Daniil Pareiko dived the wrong way to give Vaprus a deserved 1-0 lead.

The hosts nearly doubled their advantage before halftime as Põder struck the crossbar following a deflected cross, while Mark Anders Lepik also forced Pareiko into an important save after a dangerous counterattack.

Vaprus remained in control after the break and eventually secured the victory in the 58th minute. Following a corner kick, the ball fell kindly for Kevin Aloe inside the six-yard box, and the defender made no mistake from close range to score the second goal of the evening.

Trans had a few half-chances to respond, with German Šlein and Cristian Campagna both trying their luck, but the visitors rarely looked capable of mounting a comeback. Vaprus, meanwhile, wasted several opportunities to make the scoreline even more convincing, including a huge miss from Lepik in front of an almost empty net.

The victory was Vaprus’ fourth league win of the season and moves the Pärnu club level on points with Nõmme United and Tartu Tammeka, all sitting on 13 points. Narva Trans remain bottom of the table with just six points from 11 matches.
