RFS completed a high-scoring Virsliga matchweek with a commanding 5-0 home win over FK Liepāja on Friday, moving back to the top of the table after 11 rounds.
Modou Saidy set the tone early, turning in from close range after Liepāja goalkeeper Dāvis Ošs could only get a touch to a cross that flashed across his six-yard box. RFS doubled their lead from a corner as Roberts Savaļnieks’ delivery was met by Žiga Lipušček, whose header left Ošs with no chance.
The hosts went three up before the break when a finish from Cedric Kouadio in front of goal was ultimately recorded as an own goal by Andriy Korobenko.
RFS continued to dominate after half-time and made it 4-0 when a long cross sparked a quick move that ended with Ismael Diomande converting from a good position. Midway through the second half, coach Viktors Morozs introduced Niks Sliede, who made his Virsliga return after not featuring since early May last year.
The fifth arrived from the penalty spot after Darko Lemajič was brought down in the area. Referee Artis Ķēniņš initially allowed play to continue, but a VAR review led to the award of a spot-kick, which Stefan Panič dispatched for his third successful penalty of the league season.
After this heavy defeat FK Liepāja are now 13 points back from Top 3 where Auda sits. Andreas Alm managed side who have won just one match in their eight league games will look to forget this result as in four days they will host Ogre United, while the league leaders RFS on Wednesday will play an away game in Daugavpils.
