Lithuanian players and coaches were involved across Europe and beyond between 13th and 19th of April, with Armandas Kučys helping Celje clinch the Slovenian league title.
Celje beat Olimpija Ljubljana 2-0 at home on 15th April, with Kučys scoring in the 40th minute before being substituted late on. Artemijus Tutyškinas also took part, getting booked and subbed off at half-time. On 19th April, Celje won 2-0 away to Mura to seal the title, with both Kučys and Tutyškinas again withdrawn at the half-time.
In Italy, Gvidas Gineitis played the full match as Torino drew 0-0 at Cremonese on 19th April. In Serie B, Marius Adamonis completed 90 minutes as Südtirol were beaten 6-1 at Spezia the day before. In Serie C, Linas Mėgelaitis played the full game in Perugia’s 1-0 home defeat by Campobasso and Titas Krapikas went the distance for Gubbio in a 0-0 draw at Torres. Motiejus Šapola featured until the 72nd minute as Pontedera lost 2-1 at Sambenedettese.
Turkey’s second tier saw Modestas Vorobjovas play 90 minutes in two 3-1 wins for Istanbulspor, first away to Sivasspor on 13th April and then at home to Sariyer on 19th April, when he was booked late on. In Romania, Edvinas Gertmonas kept goal throughout as Universitatea Cluj beat Universitatea Craiova 4-0 on 13th April, before losing 2-1 away to Dinamo București on the 18th.
In Slovenia, Pijus Širvys scored for Maribor in a 2-0 home win over Primorje. Elsewhere, Justas Lasickas played the full match for Rijeka in a 2-2 draw away to Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia, while Vilius Armalas completed 90 minutes in MTK Budapest’s 2-1 home victory against Kisvárda in Hungary.
Lithuanian representation also extended further afield. Bahrain’s Al Riffa, with goalkeeper Džiugas Bartkus, won 1-0 at home against Aali Club on 17th April. In South Korea, Gytis Paulauskas came on after 61 minutes for Jeju in a 1-1 draw with Gimcheon Sangmu on 18th of April, and in India, Kerala Blasters, where Karolis Skinkys is sporting director, drew 1-1 with NorthEast United on 15th of April before beating Jamshedpur 2-0 on the 18th. In Azerbaijan, Valdas Dambrauskas’ Sabah won 1-0 away to Qarabağ on 18th April.
