Metta continued their strong start to the new LVBET līga (Latvian second tier) season with a 2-0 home win over Riga FC’s reserve side at their new ground, the football centre Rūpnīca (“Factory”).
The hosts went ahead in the 21st minute when Kevins Cēsnieks, a former Latvia Under-21 international, converted a penalty to put Metta in control.
Riga FC’s second team held out for long spells, but Metta sealed the points late on as Nigerian forward Sadiq Saleh doubled the advantage eight minutes from time.
Metta, who dropped from Virslīga last season have now taken maximum points from their opening two matches.
