Brazilian club EC Juventude have confirmed two deals involving players moving to Latvian champions Riga FC. While the Latvian club had already announced the arrival of young centre-back Abner Salles da Silva, Juventude also confirmed that winger Juan Christian will join Riga FC on a permanent transfer.
Riga FC earlier announced the signing of the 21-year-old Brazilian defender Abner, who joins the club on a loan deal with an option to buy. The centre-back spent the previous season with Juventude, where he featured in 22 matches in Brazil’s Série A and provided one assist. Across all competitions for Juventude’s first team, Abner made 36 appearances, scoring two goals and registering one assist.
In addition, Juventude confirmed that 25-year-old winger Juan Christian has also moved to Riga FC after the Latvian club activated a clause in his contract to complete a permanent transfer. Juventude retained 60 percent of the player’s economic rights, with the deal bringing the Brazilian club approximately €470,000 (around R$2.8 million).
Last season Juan Christian played mainly for Cuiabá in Brazil’s Série B, where he made 32 appearances, scoring four goals and providing three assists. He also featured in the Campeonato Mato-Grossense, recording two goals and three assists in six matches, as well as making an appearance in the Copa do Brasil.
Riga FC opened their league campaign with a 1-2 defeat against FK Liepāja, but will look to secure their first victory of the season on Saturday when they host BFC Daugavpils.
