Tammeka have completed the signing of Brazilian defensive midfielder Thomas Lisboa from Corinthians’ under-20 side on a three-year contract, until 2028. Lisboa, full name Thomas Rafael Gonçalves Lisboa, is a Corinthians academy product from São Paulo and has played in Brazil’s national Brasileiro Under-20 competition.

Head coach Karel Voolaid said the 21-year-old was recruited to add creativity and raise the team’s quality in possession, with Tammeka’s pre-season work having focused on pressing and their game without the ball.

When we discussed before the season how the team could play, it became clear we needed more creativity to improve our play on the ball,” Voolaid said. “To balance and control matches better, we looked for a player like Thomas Lisboa.”

Voolaid added that the midfielder’s tactical understanding can develop further, while noting his versatility. “Lisboa can also play in central defence and that kind of versatility is a plus, but above all we see him as a midfielder,” he said.

Lisboa said passing and building attacks were his main strengths. “I’m very open to learning new things so I can develop as a footballer,” he told club’s official media. “My first impressions of Tartu have been the best possible, and I think the club has welcomed me very well.

This will be his first experience playing outside of his home country and in Europe.

Tammeka begin their new Premium liiga season on Sunday 8 March at Coop Stadium against Nõmme Kalju.
