Lithuanian midfielder Karolis Šilkaitis will test himself outside his home country for the first time, joining Kyrgyz Premier League club Asiagoal.
The 29-year-old Šilkaitis spent many years as an important figure at FK Kauno Žalgiris before moving to FC Džiugas Telšiai last season. In the 2025 campaign, he made 28 league appearances, registering one goal and one assist.
The midfielder made his debut in Lithuania’s top division – then known as A Lyga, now rebranded as Toplyga – back in 2015. Across his career in the Lithuanian top flight, Šilkaitis has played 259 matches and scored 11 goals.
He has now signed a one-season contract with Asiagoal, who are based in the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek. The club was founded only in December 2024 and competed in the Kyrgyz top division in their debut season. Although they finished bottom of the table, they will remain in the Premier League as the competition expands from 14 to 16 teams for the upcoming season.
The Kyrgyz championship follows the same calendar format as Lithuania’s league, beginning in spring and concluding in late autumn or early winter.
