Flora full-back Kristo Hussar has completed a move to Slovak top-flight club AS Trenčín, with the 23-year-old becoming the latest Estonian to head to the Niké Liga.

Hussar arrives at a side that has already brought in Flora midfielder Markus Poom earlier this month, while Estonia forward Dimitri Jepihhin is also part of the Trenčín squad.

I’m happy to take the next step up in my career. Thank you to Flora for six years together,” Hussar said. “I especially want to thank the fans, coaches, physios and, of course, the team. We achieved a lot in those years and I’ll remember the best successes and the great moments. I wish Flora the best and hope the club fulfils its targets.”

Flora sporting director Taavi Trasberg described the transfer as a natural progression after Hussar established himself as a regular in recent seasons.

Hussar was one of our key players in the previous campaigns, so a contract with a foreign club is a logical and expected step in his career,” Trasberg said. “He’s an incredibly hard-working and dedicated footballer, and always a positive presence – one of the team’s driving forces. On behalf of the Flora community, I thank him for everything he has done for the club and wish him every success at his new home.”

A Tabasalu academy product, Hussar joined Flora in spring 2020 and went on to make 127 Premium liiga appearances, scoring three goals. He won four Estonian league titles, the Evald Tipner Cup once and the A. Le Coq Supercup twice, and has five senior Estonia caps.

Trenčín, founded in 1992, are two-time Slovak champions (2014-15 and 2015-16). They are currently eighth in the Niké Liga, having finished 11th last season before retaining their top-flight status via the relegation play-offs.
