Latvia have learned their potential fixture schedule for the upcoming UEFA Nations League campaign, although their league placement – C or D – will only be confirmed after the March play-off matches against Gibraltar.
The Latvian national team discovered their possible opponents yesterday for the Nations League campaign, which begins in September. However, before that, two decisive matches against Gibraltar in March will determine whether Latvia compete in League C or are relegated to League D.
If Latvia overcome Gibraltar over two legs, they will begin their League C campaign on September 25 with an away match in Armenia. Their first home fixture would follow three days later against Cyprus.
The schedule would then continue with another home match on October 2 against Montenegro, before Latvia travel to Cyprus three days later.
The campaign would conclude in November with two final matches — first away to Montenegro on November 12, and then a home match against Armenia on November 15.
If Latvia fail to overcome Gibraltar, the national team will compete in League D. In that scenario, the campaign would begin on September 27 at home against familiar opponents Andorra. Latvia would then travel on October 1 to face either Malta or Luxembourg.
The League D campaign would also conclude in November with two matches – first away to Andorra, before finishing on November 16 at home against either Malta or Luxembourg.
