OS Belenenses have reached an agreement with Primeira Liga side Arouca to sign Lithuania forward Romualdas Jansonas until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old arrives at the Estádio do Restelo to strengthen Tiago Zorro’s attacking options as Belenenses target a return to Liga 2.

Jansonas is already a full international, with Belenenses highlighting that he has five senior caps for Lithuania, including appearances in the Nations League and 2026 World Cup qualification, and has also represented his country from Under-17 to Under-21 level.

The striker’s move continues a rapid rise over the past 12 months. In January 2025, he was given a five-day trial at Serie A club Atalanta after impressing in the UEFA Youth League qualifiers, where he scored six goals – including one against Manchester United. At the time, it was reported that he had been used sparingly by FK Žalgiris Vilnius head coach Vladimir Cheburin in the A Lyga, featuring in 21 matches but averaging around 20 minutes per game and finishing the league season without a goal.

After his contract with Žalgiris Vilnius ended, Jansonas signed a long-term deal with Kauno Žalgiris in February 2025, following that Atalanta trial. By that point, he had already played nearly 50 league matches for Žalgiris Vilnius, scoring twice and providing two assists, while his best return came in the UEFA Youth League, where he scored six goals in 2024 and ranked among the competition’s top scorers.

His form in Kaunas then earned him a move to Portugal later that year, with Arouca announcing his signing in August 2025. Reports at the time suggested the transfer fee could reach around €200,000.

Belenenses say Jansonas has experience across the Europa League, Conference League and Youth League, and arrives as another piece in Zorro’s attacking plans for the remainder of the campaign.
