Lithuanian full-back Skaistė Petrauskaitė has made her Turkish Women’s Super League debut after completing a move from MFA Žalgiris to 1207 Antalyaspor.

The 22-year-old played the full 90 minutes as Antalyaspor were beaten 3-0 at home by title contenders Galatasaray on 26 January, a match-up she described as an immediate test against one of the division’s strongest sides.

Making my debut in my new club’s shirt came against one of the best teams in the league,” Petrauskaitė said. “It was natural that I had to work much more near our goal than in attack. Even after counter-attacks, I had to recover quickly to help the team defensively.”

Petrauskaitė, who operated as an attacking full-back, felt her personal display was positive despite the result. “I even managed to score, but it was ruled out for a slight offside by a team-mate,” she added. “And in the last minute I kept us from conceding again by clearing the ball off the line.”

Antalyaspor, newly promoted to the Turkish top flight, sit 13th on 15 points after 16 rounds. Petrauskaitė said the squad has made a strong first impression, highlighting their organisation and offside trap, while noting the club’s stated target is to stay up and finish inside the top 10.

Antalyaspor’s next league fixture is scheduled for 1 February against Çekmeköy, who are 10th with 17 points.
