Lithuanian champions Kauno Žalgiris claimed a 1-0 victory over Dynamo Kyiv in a pre-season friendly in Turkey.
With chances at both ends, the game remained goalless deep into the second half. Yukiyoshi Karashima tested the Kyiv defence with a dangerous free-kick before the break, while Dynamo also created openings of their own.
After the interval, the Ukrainians struck the frame of Deividas Mikelionis’ goal with a long-range effort, and Kauno Žalgiris went close when Aldayras Hernandezas headed against the post from a corner.
The decisive moment arrived in the 88th minute. A defensive mistake was forced, Motiejus Burba flicked the ball into Fedor Černych’s path, and the forward drove a low finish home to settle the contest.
Kauno Žalgiris held firm in the closing stages to see out the win.
