Tartu Tammeka’s women began their pre-season preparations with an entertaining 3-2 defeat away to Pärnu Poseidon on Saturday.

The friendly, played at the Pärnu football hall with a 16:00 kick-off, saw Tammeka take a first-half lead before a busy second period swung the contest the home side’s way. Tammeka’s goals came from Tamm and Kiivit.

Head coach Bogdan Lukashenko, who previously worked in Lithuania with MFA Žalgiris, said the match was primarily about getting minutes into a revamped squad. “The main aim was the game itself,” he said. “It was the first match for a renewed women’s team, a new group. Some players are from last season, but we were joined by Tammeka U15 girls and also new players from elsewhere. Everyone got equal game time today.”

Lukashenko added that the opening 45 minutes gave him encouragement. “We won the first half 1-0. The first half showed me, as a coach, that the girls have discipline and the will to play. That is the most important thing for me,” he said.

Tammeka’s next friendly is scheduled for 7 February in Rakvere’s new football hall against Finnish side EPS.
