MFA Žalgiris captain Ugnė Lazdauskaitė has signed a new contract that will keep her in green and white through the 2026 season.

The 23-year-old, who returned to Lithuania in the summer of 2024 after spells abroad, said she wanted to help drive standards inside the squad and support the next generation coming through. “I decided to extend because I want to contribute to the growth of young players, the development of women’s football in Lithuania, and to pursue the highest goals together,” Lazdauskaitė said. “It’s important for me to share my experience, help young players improve, and be in a team that sets ambitious targets and consistently works towards them.”

Lazdauskaitė made her debut for the club in 2016 and played in Vilnius until the end of 2021, finishing as Lithuanian league runners-up twice. After the 2021 campaign she moved to Italy with Roma Calcio Femminile in Serie B, later continuing her career in Switzerland, before returning home to help MFA Žalgiris retain second place in the Lithuanian championship in 2024.

Looking ahead, Lazdauskaitė said her aim for 2026 was to be more consistent and more valuable for the team, while also contributing to the wider growth of the organisation and the level of women’s football in Lithuania.

MFA Žalgiris have retained the core of their squad for 2026, with head coach Vadim Carabetchi continuing in charge. The club also confirmed the return of Erika Šupelytė after a three-year break, while defender Kotryna Maželytė has joined.
