Kauno Žalgiris have begun preparations for the 2026 campaign, starting pre-season training on 8 January as they gear up for a landmark year of defending their maiden A Lyga crown.

The Lithuanian champions are set to open their season in the LFF Super Cup final against Panevėžys, with a first-ever appearance in UEFA Champions League qualifying to follow in the summer.

The club’s only friendly on home soil is scheduled for 17 January, when they travel to face Sūduva. The rest of the programme will be completed during a training camp in Turkey, with Kauno Žalgiris due to depart on 22 January.

Based in Antalya, the A Lyga holders will play four matches against overseas opposition. They begin the camp fixtures on 25 January against Kazakhstan top-flight side Zhenis.

A marquee test arrives on 30 January, when Kauno Žalgiris are set to meet Dynamo Kyiv, one of the most decorated clubs in Ukrainian football.

Further games in Turkey include a meeting with Denmark’s Esbjerg on 3 February, before Kauno Žalgiris complete their pre-season schedule against Moldova’s Zimbru on 6 February.
