After several seasons with FS Jelgava, centre-back Valters Purs has completed a move to SK Super Nova, signing a contract with the Rīga-based club.
The 19-year-old defender is a product of the Jelgava football academy and has already accumulated significant experience in Latvia’s top flight. Purs made his Virslīga debut at just 17 years of age in 2023 and went on to make 72 league appearances over three seasons, scoring one goal during that period.
Last season, Purs saw a slight reduction in playing time compared to previous campaigns, featuring in 16 matches and logging 1,091 minutes. Despite this, he has remained on the national team radar, earning a call-up to the Latvia U-21 squad in 2025, although he is yet to make his debut at that level. He has, however, represented Latvia U-19 on 18 occasions.
SK Super Nova finished eighth in the Virslīga last season and have undergone significant changes during the offseason. The club has appointed Maksims Rafaļskis as head coach, replacing previous manager Ervīns Pērkons.
