BFC Daugavpils have confirmed their first major squad update ahead of the upcoming campaign, announcing that defender Ceti Taty will remain at the club on a permanent basis. The 20-year-old has officially joined Daugavpils from FC RFS, becoming a full-time member of the Latgale side after a successful loan spell.
Taty delivered an outstanding first full professional season in senior football while on loan from RFS. The young defender featured in 31 Virslīga matches, scoring three goals and playing a crucial role at the heart of the defense. He also appeared in two Latvian Cup fixtures and took part in BFC Daugavpils’ historic European debut.
Now the Congolese defender has signed a contract with the club, becoming a permanent BFC Daugavpils player. He first arrived in Latvia in the summer of 2024, joining the RFS organization from the KAA Gent academy, as he went on to make three appearances for RFS’s first team.
Ahead of the 2025 season, Taty was loaned out to Daugavpils. BFC Daugavpils went on to achieve the best result in the club’s history, finishing fourth in the Virslīga.
His great season did not go unnoticed internationally. In October, Taty received his first call-up to the Congo national team, making his debut in a FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Morocco, coming on as a substitute.
