Latvian side FK Metta, who were relegated from the Virslīga after the 2025 season, have announced a wave of departures from their first-team squad as the club prepares for next year’s campaign in the Nākotnes Līga.

Despite winning their final match against BFC Daugavpils, it was not enough to avoid finishing last, and Metta will step down from the top flight after 14 consecutive seasons. The club also confirmed that most of their foreign players will leave ahead of next season.

Italian full-back Gianluca Scremin, who joined from Spezia Calcio’s academy in the summer of 2024, departs after making 34 appearances and contributing two assists. Three young players from Sierra Leone also leave: forward Abdul Bangura (26 league games, 2 goals, 1 assist), midfielder Mohamed Bai Kamara (31 games, 2 goals, 1 assist, also made his international debut for Sierra Leone), and 20-year-old defender Saymah Kamara (19 appearances, no goals).

The Brazilian 21-year-old left-back Lauan, who spent his first season outside Brazil with Metta and played 20 league matches, will also depart.

Additionally, defenders Alans Kangars (26 games, 3 goals) and Aleksandrs Molotkovs (25 games, 1 goal) have returned to their parent club FK Liepāja following the end of their loan spells.

The only foreign player remaining at the club is 19-year-old Nigerian forward Sadiq Saleh, who scored five goals in 35 appearances this season.
