Lithuanian international midfielder Paulius Golubickas has completed a loan move from Polish side Radomiak Radom to Finnish giants Kuopion Palloseura (KuPS). The 26-year-old makes the switch in search of more regular playing time after a difficult start to his second season in Poland’s top flight.
Golubickas has featured for just 24 minutes in the Ekstraklasa this campaign, a situation far from ideal for a player regarded as a key figure in Lithuania’s national team setup.
With limited opportunities at Radomiak, the midfielder now heads north to Finland, where he will look to revitalize his form with KuPS, currently sitting second in the Veikkausliiga, level on points with league leaders.
The loan deal runs until the end of 2025, giving Golubickas ample time to establish himself in Scandinavia.
KuPS officials believe his versatility and experience will strengthen the squad as they push for both domestic and European success.
“Paulius is a midfielder who can play in several different positions and should fit well into our style of play,” said Viki Savonen, Director of Recruitment and Football Operations at KuPS. “His solid international experience is obviously an advantage, considering the challenges we face later in the season.”
KuPS are not only contenders for the Finnish championship but are also set to compete on the European stage. Despite a heavy 0-4 defeat to FC Midtjylland in the final Europa League qualifying round, the club has secured a place in the UEFA Conference League phase after beating the Latvian champions FC RFS in the previous round.
