In Friday’s second-round fixture of the Polish Ekstraklasa, Lithuania international Paulius Golubickas came off the bench late in the match to help Radomiak Radom secure a 1-1 draw away to newly promoted Arka Gdynia.
As in the season opener against Pogoń Szczecin, Golubickas began the game on the bench and was introduced in the final minutes. While Radomiak opened their season with a commanding 5-1 win, Friday’s point required a more determined effort.
Arka took the lead in the 14th minute through a familiar face – former Radomiak player Dawid Abramowicz. The hosts thought they had doubled their advantage in the second half when Michał Marcjanik found the net, but VAR ruled the goal out for offside.
Radomiak equalized midway through the half thanks to Jan Grzesik, who scored his third goal of the season. Golubickas entered the match in the 86th minute to help see out the result.
The 24-year-old Lithuanian joined Radomiak last winter and made nine league appearances last season, starting twice and providing one assist. This season, he’s now featured in both games as a late substitute, totaling just 12 minutes of play.
Radomiak’s next test comes on Sunday when they host top-tier contenders Raków Częstochowa.
