Virslīga club FK Liepāja has loaned out its 22-year-old central defender Oskars Vientiess to FK Tukums 2000 until the end of the season.

Vientiess joined FK Liepāja ahead of the 2025 season following a long spell in the FK Metta system, where he took his first steps in football. This season, the defender has made 14 appearances in the Virslīga, scoring one goal.

There had been speculation that Vientiess would be loaned out this summer to gain more consistent playing time, with a club from Lithuania reportedly among the interested parties. However, the Latvian Football Federation’s transfer registry has now confirmed that the young center-back will spend the rest of the season on loan at FK Tukums 2000.

A former FK Metta academy product and longtime captain of their first team, Vientiess played a total of 143 matches for the Riga-based club before moving to Liepāja. His experience and leadership will provide a significant boost for Kristaps Dišlers’ FK Tukums 2000 side, which is battling to avoid relegation from the top division.

In a twist of fate, FK Metta—his boyhood club and former captaincy post—is now one of Tukums’ direct rivals in the fight for survival. Vientiess will now be tasked with helping his new team compete against the very club that helped shape his career.
